| Northern Lights
|
Friday, March 01, 2013
to Sunday, May 05, 2013
12:00 NOON - 4:00 PM
|
Northern Lights celebrates the creative wealth of women artists in the northern suburbs of Melbourne. Artists include Georgina Cue, Mary Hammond, Katherine Hattam, Siri Hayes, Anna Hoyle, Kate Just, Polixeni Papapetrou, Jacqui Stockdale, and Sharon West. The exhibition features paintings, sculpture, photography, printmaking, tapestry, installation, video and new media.
Northern Lights are a reference to the natural light phenomena, aurora borealis that causes energetically charged particles to collide with the Earth’s atmosphere resulting in a brilliantly colourful and ever-changing sky. Just as the aurora borealis has a vast range of colourful, energetic and sublime effects, the same is true of the artwork produced by the artists in this exhibition.

| Egyptian Cooking Class
|
Monday, May 20, 2013
6:00 PM - 8:30 PM

Egyptian cuisine's history goes back to Ancient Egypt. Egyptian cuisine is notably conducive to vegetarian diets, as it relies heavily on vegetable dishes. Though food in Alexandria and the coast of Egypt tends to use a great deal of fish and other seafood, for the most part Egyptian cuisine is based on foods that grow out of the ground. Meat has been very expensive for most Egyptians throughout history, and a great deal of vegetarian dishes have developed to work around this economic reality.
Come along and learn about this tasty cuisine.
