to Tuesday, March 03, 2015

10:00 AM
Australia’s very first Islamic art museum, the ‘Islamic Museum of Australia’ is opening its doors to the public on Monday 3rd March, promising to take visitors on an interactive journey through the arts, history, culture and the stories of everyday Australian Muslims.
Positioned backing onto the Merri Creek trail, the Museum aims to foster community harmony and facilitate an understanding of the values of Muslims and their contributions to Australian society.

There are five permanent gallery spaces and one visiting exhibition space – Islamic Faith, Islamic Contributions to Civilisation, Islamic Art, Islamic Architecture and Australian Muslim History. The Museum aims to showcase the rich artistic heritage and historical contributions of Muslims in Australia and abroad.

The Museum offers educational interactive tours for school groups with all material and programs in line with the Australian school’s curriculum. There will be workshops available to students and visitors of the Museum to participate in creative tasks.

Middle Modern Eastern, the café run by 2013 Masterchef contestant, Samira El Khafir will serve up a fusion of Australian and Middle Eastern cuisines and is set to be a great vantage point for walkers and bike riders from the Merri Creek Trail. The interactive garden space will be a relaxing place to enjoy a coffee or some lunch.

Reservoir Dad
Thursday, July 17, 2014
7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Reservoir Dad, aka Clint Greagen, is a stay-at-home dad and blogger who tells it like it is and makes us laugh out loud – and sometimes cry, but in a good way.

He is a wickedly funny and irreverent chronicler of real life in today's parenting trenches, whether he's making us choke with laughter or ‘scrisper' (a scream, tempered by a whisper, vital to surviving wrangling four little boys in planes, trains, automobiles and supermarkets).

In his book Reservoir Dad, he finally shares the whole enchilada. The result is a laugh out loud , refreshingly down to earth and moving modern-day love story that reminds us of what really matters amongst all the chaos and craziness …

Join Clint as he talks about the writing of his book and shares some of his stories.

Book online at www.darebinlibraries.vic.gov.au or call 1300655355.

6° OF SEPARATION
Saturday, July 19, 2014
to Saturday, August 23, 2014
Curated by Sim Luttin, 6° OF SEPARATION focuses on connecting prominent personalities and leaders in the community with Arts Project and our artists. This project aims to introduce new people to our gallery and studio, so that they understand what we do and how we do it, while giving our artists an opportunity to meet new people and to create unique portraits drawn from life.

6° OF SEPARATION explores how far we can go to develop meaningful links with prominent figures in the broader community, in order to help cultivate unique experiences for the sitter and artists. The project culminates in an exhibition of portraits in July 2014 that links directly back to our artists and organisation.

Patrick Francis
Saturday, July 19, 2014
to Saturday, August 23, 2014
Patrick Francis’ solo exhibition runs off the back of his highly successful inclusion in Melbourne Now at the National Gallery of Victoria.

Francis’ current work uses bold sections of flat colour, distilled into expressive portraits: their potency being their simplicity and dynamism. A prolific painter, Francis’ draws on popular culture and art history to create enduring works of off centre sophistication.

Patrick Francis began exhibiting at Arts Project Australia in 2009 when he was eighteen years old. Since then his work has been included in every Arts Project Annual Gala Exhibition and numerous group exhibitions, including Classic Albums and At the table. In 2013, Francis was selected in Melbourne Now at the National Gallery of Victoria and in 2014 for SAFARI in New South Wales. In 2012, Francis was selected as one of Arts Project Australia’s featured artists for the Melbourne Art Fair, and was also awarded the 2012 Art & Australia/Credit Suisse Private Banking Contemporary Art Award.

PATRICK FRANCIS' solo runs concurrently with 6° OF SEPARATION.
