Decibels Indie supports young emerging artists to develop the networks and connections needed to become independent artists. Successful applicants receive professional mentoring, specialised workshops and project funds of up to $1,000.

Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic, the format of Decibels Indie has changed slightly to support projects that can be realised remotely – this could include (but is not limited to!);

  • The recording and mixing of original music – you record at home, and get some professional mentoring and help mixing, mastering and releasing

  • The organisation of an online festival or event

  • The development of any new work – with professional mentoring, technical and marketing support

  • Professional development, including ongoing mentoring from local artists and industry professionals

To apply, tell us about your music or creative project that you are wanting to get off the ground. Applications are judged on potential, enthusiasm and how well the project is thought out; not how developed, good or popular a band/act is right now. Applications open till May 10th, but will be assessed as they are received for projects beginning immediately!

Are you an aspiring rapper, freestyler or beat-maker?

ReZonate is a weekly Hip Hop and Electronic Music program that normally runs at Decibels Youth Music Centre on Thursday evenings 4-7pm. People come to ReZonate for different reasons – to record their raps in the studio, to freestyle with the group, to collaborate on writing and producing tracks or to get some help getting their heads around software like Ableton Live.

Decibels is shut at the moment due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, but you can still connect with the ReZonate community and facilitators by;

  • Following our Facebook and Instagram for live tutorials, workshops, performances and other content (keep a look out for ReZonate workshops on Thursday evenings!)

  • Booking a one-on-one session via video chat to work on beats, get a music lesson or help mixing a track
