Decibels Youth Music Centre is Darebin’s youth music and arts hub, based upstairs at the Reservoir Community and Learning Centre.

Our facilities:

Our main control room includes a Mac Pro with ProTools, Ableton Live and Logic software which can record up to 24 channels at a time, through great preamps and microphones – come and check it out!

Studio A is set up for band recordings and rehearsals, with a PA, drum-kit, guitars, amplifiers, piano and keyboard. Studio B is a technology and media room, with six computer workstations running audio and video software, all set up with large monitors and midi-keyboards.

Our programs:

We believe in a holistic approach to supporting young artists and producers that includes the facilitation of workshops and the recording and production of original works in a place where young people feel they belong, are free to be themselves and are secure in their identity and culture.

We offer a variety of music, art and technology workshops for all skill levels:

  • ReZonate: A weekly drop in program in electronic and hip-hop based music genres.
  • Decibels Indie: Decibels Indie is an inclusive dynamic space which supports young emerging artists to develop the networks and connections needed to become independent artists.
  • Darebin FReeZA (dB Productions): Learn how to plan and run live music and other cultural events.
  • Turn Up: A space for young women, gender diverse, trans and non-binary youth to connect while learning how to make music, play in a band or create and record music using computers.
  • First Take: A chance for young songwriters and bands to get a taste of recording.
