Reservoir Leisure Centre

Centre closure: RLC will be closed from 8pm Wednesday 8th July, in line with the Victorian Government announcement that metropolitan Melbourne will return to Level 3 restrictions from midnight Wednesday 8 July.

If you had an upcoming visit for the pool, gym or group fitness class booked after 8 July, you will receive a credit for your booking to use when we re-open. All memberships will remain on suspension.

We understand this is difficult news — we have so enjoyed being able to welcome you back over the past month but the expansion of restrictions is a timely reminder that we all have a part to play in reducing the spread of COVID-19. Please continue to take good care of yourselves and those around you, and keep up to date the latest information on restrictions and health guidance at the DHHS website: www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/coronavirus.

To help you keep moving, our free online exercise classes will be making a return! Keep an eye on the Reservoir Leisure Centre Facebook page for the latest updates.

For updates about other Council services, keep an eye on the Darebin City Council Facebook page and find more information at www.darebin.vic.gov.au/coronavirus, or call 8470 8888 to speak to a Darebin Customer Service representative.

RLC Health Wellbeing and Socio-Economic Impacts Discussion Paper

In May 2019, Council resolved to engage a principal consultant to develop a discussion paper investigating what opportunities for health, wellbeing and socio-economic outcomes the redevelopment of the Reservoir Leisure Centre could achieve for the Reservoir community.

Applying a holistic public health and community development framework, the consultant will build on the feasibility study, which was informed by community consultation throughout 2019.

Council is in the final stages of awarding the contract. The project is anticipated to start in late June and run through to the end of October 2020.

Reservoir Leisure Centre offers extended opening hours on selected weekends for trans and gender diverse people to enjoy exercise in a safe, supportive environment.

RLC is proud to have been the first leisure centre in Victoria to hold a Trans and Gender Diverse (TGD) Swim Night in early 2018.

A recommendation of Darebin’s Sexuality, Sex and Gender Diversity Advisory Committee, these events have been developed to provide a welcoming and safe environment for trans and gender diverse members of our community to enjoy exercise.

Working with Transgender Victoria and the Victorian Pride Centre to develop a successful framework for hosting these events, we’ve since shared our experience with leisure centres in neighbouring municipalities. There are now several TGD and LGBTIQ inclusive events happening regularly at leisure centres across Melbourne.

Along with access to the pools, our TGD events have expanded to include access to the gym facilities and group fitness classes.

These events are open to trans and gender diverse people of all ages — if that’s you, come along, get some exercise or just hang out and socialise and in a safe and supportive environment. Friends, partners and families are welcome.

Entry is $3.00 at the door – no bookings required.
