We believe swimming is a life skill and requires time, care, practice and regular commitment.

The best things about our Swim School:

  1. We offer the Royal Life Saving Society endorsed Swim and Survive program
  2. All of our teachers are Austswim qualified
  3. Our pools are heated and we have a 25m pool
  4. We offer a year round on-going, progressive program.
  5. Classes available across 7 days of the week

There really isn't anywhere better to learn to swim in Darebin. Our Swim and Survive program will teach your child, or yourself, vital life skills. Living in Australia we are surrounded by water. It's part of our lifestyle, so make sure you and your family are safe in and around the water.

We follow the progressive Swim and Survive program which is a comprehensive swimming and water safety initiative of the Royal Life Saving Society that seeks to increase the swimming and water safety skills of all Australian children in order to prevent drowning and increase participation in safe aquatic activity.

Wonder, Courage and Active have been chosen as the Swim and Survive program titles to reflect the hopes and aspirations of children and families as they embark on a lifetime of fun and safety in the water.

Each program is structured into skill strands that ensure a balanced, comprehensive instructional approach to a child's aquatic education.

Wonder, Courage and Active

Wonder, Courage and Active have been chosen as the Swim and Survive program titles to reflect the hopes and aspirations of children and families as they embark on a lifetime of fun and safety in the water.

Wonder: A water familiarisation program for parents and their children aged 6 to 36 months.
Courage: A program that builds water confidence for preschool aged children between the ages of 3-5 years.
Active: A swimming and water safety program for school aged children between the ages of 5-14 years.

Each program is structured into skill strands that ensure a balanced, comprehensive instructional approach to a child's aquatic education.

Frequently Asked Questions as of 5 January 2021

When does Swim School start for Term 1 in 2021?

Lessons start on Monday 25 January.

When can I enroll my child into swimming lessons?

Enrolments are open now and can be made at any time.

What happens if I have paid upfront for swimming lessons in 2020?

Upfront payments made in 2020 will be rolled over into Semester 1 commencing 25 January 2021.
This includes 15 weeks of the remaining previous semester from 2020.

Moving forward, all students will move to a fortnightly direct debit payment once the 15 weeks has been paid.

How do we make sure we’re booked into lessons for 2021?

We’ll be rolling across all 2020 enrolments into 2021 and aim to have you booked into the same class day and time. We’ll be contacting you if we need to make any changes to your day and time due to class availability.

Will my child be in the same level?

We will keep students in the same level as best as we can. There are some exceptions in our age-based classes.

If your child is in a Wonder level, it is likely they will be moved to a new Wonder or Courage level depending on their age.

If your children are in Courage levels and are starting school in 2021, they will also need to move to Active levels.

If your child’s class changes, we will be in contact with you.

What is happening with my direct debits?

All families who have been paying by direct debit will remain on hold until lessons start on the 25 January 2021.

The first direct debit will be Thursday 21 January on a fortnightly basis.

Reservoir Leisure Centre offers extended opening hours on selected weekends for trans and gender diverse people to enjoy exercise in a safe, supportive environment.

We are for the return of our TGD Community Nights, with the first event for 2021 on Saturday 8th of May.

RLC is proud to have been the first leisure centre in Victoria to hold a Trans and Gender Diverse (TGD) Swim Night in early 2018.

A recommendation of Darebin’s Sexuality, Sex and Gender Diversity Advisory Committee, these events have been developed to provide a welcoming and safe environment for trans and gender diverse members of our community to enjoy exercise.

Working with Transgender Victoria and the Victorian Pride Centre to develop a successful framework for hosting these events, we’ve since shared our experience with leisure centres in neighbouring municipalities. There are now several TGD and LGBTIQ inclusive events happening regularly at leisure centres across Melbourne.

Along with access to the pools, our TGD events have expanded to include access to the gym facilities and group fitness classes.

These events are open to trans and gender diverse people of all ages — if that’s you, come along, get some exercise or just hang out and socialise and in a safe and supportive environment. Friends, partners and families are welcome.

Entry is $3.00 at the door – no bookings required.
