Reservoir Leisure Centre provides a friendly atmosphere for members and visitors to develop, improve and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Gym facilities

Gym facilities at Reservoir Leisure Centre include:

  • Cardio fitness equipment
  • Pin and free load weights
  • Functional training cage
  • Large group exercise studio
  • Group cycle studio

Our qualified gym instructors support all new members to identify and set fitness goals. New members can book in for a free fitness assessment, where we will talk to you about your goals and develop a tailored program for you to follow. We show you how to use gym equipment, ensuring you feel confident to use it properly and safely, and we can help track your progress by re-assessing and modifying your program based on your improvements.

Group fitness classes

Group fitness classes are a fun and interactive way to get fit and healthy – a great workout for all ages and fitness levels, and a great way to stay motivated! We offer more than 60 classes at Reservoir Leisure Centre every week.

Current timetable can be viewed below;

- New Group Fitness Timetable from 13 January 2020

Members have full access to our group fitness classes. Casual rates apply to non-members.

At Reservoir Leisure Centre we cater for all abilities and ages ranging from 6 months to masters, providing both strong water safety and stroke technique.

We believe swimming is a life skill and requires time, care, practice and regular commitment.

The best things about our Swim School:

  1. We offer the Royal Life Saving Society endorsed Swim and Survive program
  2. All of our teachers are Austswim qualified
  3. Our pools are heated and we have a 25m pool
  4. We offer a year round on-going, progressive program.
  5. Classes available across 7 days of the week

There really isn't anywhere better to learn to swim in Darebin. Our Swim and Survive program will teach your child, or yourself, vital life skills. Living in Australia we are surrounded by water. It's part of our lifestyle, so make sure you and your family are safe in and around the water.

We follow the progressive Swim and Survive program which is a comprehensive swimming and water safety initiative of the Royal Life Saving Society that seeks to increase the swimming and water safety skills of all Australian children in order to prevent drowning and increase participation in safe aquatic activity.

Wonder, Courage and Active have been chosen as the Swim and Survive program titles to reflect the hopes and aspirations of children and families as they embark on a lifetime of fun and safety in the water.

Each program is structured into skill strands that ensure a balanced, comprehensive instructional approach to a child's aquatic education.

Wonder, Courage and Active

Courage: A program that builds water confidence for preschool aged children between the ages of 3-5 years.
Active: A swimming and water safety program for school aged children between the ages of 5-14 years.

Reservoir Leisure Centre offers extended opening hours on selected weekends for trans and gender diverse people to enjoy exercise in a safe, supportive environment.

RLC is proud to have been the first leisure centre in Victoria to hold a Trans and Gender Diverse (TGD) Swim Night in early 2018.

A recommendation of Darebin’s Sexuality, Sex and Gender Diversity Advisory Committee, these events have been developed to provide a welcoming and safe environment for trans and gender diverse members of our community to enjoy exercise.

Working with Transgender Victoria and the Victorian Pride Centre to develop a successful framework for hosting these events, we’ve since shared our experience with leisure centres in neighbouring municipalities. There are now several TGD and LGBTIQ inclusive events happening regularly at leisure centres across Melbourne.

Along with access to the pools, our TGD events have expanded to include access to the gym facilities and group fitness classes.

These events are open to trans and gender diverse people of all ages — if that’s you, come along, get some exercise or just hang out and socialise and in a safe and supportive environment. Friends, partners and families are welcome.

Entry is $3.00 at the door – no bookings required.

TGD Community Nights at RLC will return in 2020. Follow us on Facebook to be the first to know!

“What a very special evening. Thank you so much to everyone who made this happen. I had such a great time. It was a safe and friendly atmosphere. Met such lovely peeps. Thanks Darebin City Council.”

“Thank you so much for creating such a positive and safe space for us. There was so much care and consideration.”

“That was fun. Thanks, Reservoir Leisure Centre for accommodating us and making us feel welcome. Admittedly I was nervous about coming but I felt comfortable the moment I walked in the door. Your staff were really friendly and nice. I couldn't have asked for more.”
