It might be a popular pastime, but feeding native animals and birds can lead to poor nutrition, spread of disease and water pollution.
Northcote Town Hall Comedy Festival
Northcote Town Hall plans to tickle your giggle with eight great comedy shows as part of this year’s Melbourne International Comedy Festival, 1-26 April.
Federal Funding for Local Parks
The Federal Government has confirmed Darebin Council will receive $681,000 to go towards local projects, including upgrades of HP Zwar Reserve, four neighbourhood parks and Clyde Street Community Centre.
Incentive for Sustainable Development
The City of Darebin is continuing to promote Ecologically Sustainable Development (ESD) by offering a $500 rebate to planning permit applicants who follow ESD principles.
Cycling Awards Win
Darebin Council’s commitment to encourage cycling has been recognised with a national award.
Merri Creek Cycling Bridge

Making Books With Best Start

Wider footpaths, increased seating and tree planting and improved access to trams along Route 86 are key features of Darebin Council’s Northcote Streetscape Masterplan, out for community consultation from 10-31 March.
Funding Bid for Lancaster Gate
Darebin Council has applied for Federal Government funding of $4.9 million for a new community centre at the Lancaster Gate development in Bundoora.
Amendment C81 on Exhibition
Darebin Council is now exhibiting Amendment C81 to the Darebin Planning Scheme, which proposes new planning provisions as part of the implementation of the Northcote Activity Centre Structure Plan, 2007.
Northcote Bowl Community Meeting
The City of Darebin will hold a community meeting on Thursday 19 March to discuss the Ministerial ‘call in’ by the Minister for Planning for the proposal to redevelop the Northcote Bowl.
Join Earth Hour 2009
Council has officially signed up for Earth Hour and will turn off non-essential lighting at the Darebin Civic Centre and the Darebin Arts and Entertainment Centre on Saturday 28 March from 8:30 to 9:30pm.
