Cherry Street Reserve is an important 13.5 hectare reserve comprised of grassland, sections of Harold Pottage Reserve, and the Cherry Street Avenue of Honour.

The Cherry Street Reserve is managed by the Cities of Banyule and Darebin. The reserve is set aside for conservation reasons and includes areas of remnant vegetation and habitat restoration.

The Grasslands are set aside to protect grassed areas which are home to animals and plants of state significance.

Activities

Like other conservation areas within the City of Darebin, residents are encouraged to use Cherry Street Reserve for bird watching, walking and other passive recreational activities.

All paths within this reserve are unmade. Public access may be restricted and some conservation areas may be fenced off for regeneration or habitat restoration.

Management Plan

In 2004, the Cherry Street Reserve Management Plan was prepared on behalf of the Department of Sustainability and Environment, and the cities of Darebin and Banyule.

The Management Plan has recommended actions which are currently being implemented.
