Central Creek Grasslands

Central Creek Grasslands is an important remnant Western Basalt Plains Grassland of State significance and is located along the Central Creek, a stream of Merri Creek.

This 9 hectare site has been set aside to protect the grasslands which is home to animals and plants of State significance. Native grasslands were once widespread in southern Victoria, but there are now less than 0.1% of their original extent remaining.

Management Plan

Central Creek Grasslands is managed by the City of Darebin and currently maintained by the Merri Creek Management Committee. As part of the development and reservation process, a Grassland Environmental Management Plan has been prepared to guide management, development and the preparation of a specific works program for the grassland reserve.
