Chat to your neighbours about your plans to get them interested and involved. If you wish to close your street you will need to obtain written approval from 75% of residents.
Choose a Location
The City of Darebin has over 130 parks and reserves that would be ideal for a party. Visit Parks and Reserves to find one suitable for you. Other alternatives could be a driveway, front lawn or shared space. Please ensure you apply for a road closure on your application form if required.
Please be aware that the consumption or carrying of an open container of alcohol is prohibited in the Alcohol Restricted Zones which operate in the City of Darebin. Visit Alcohol Restricted Zones for more information and a map of the zones.
Food
A barbecue is a great way to bring people together. Visit the Parks and Reserves page to find out which parks have barbeque facilities. If you plan to sell food and drinks, it is necessary to obtain a permit. You must complete the Temporary Food Stall Permit at least three weeks prior to the event. Insurance
To ensure there are no legal issues with organising your event, it is important to obtain public liability insurance. Council has a limited number of free public liability insurance policies each year. Please ensure you apply for the free public liability insurance on your application form if this is required.
