The Happiness Cycle is riding into Darebin on Thursday 11 September. The project is offering up to three hundred local teens the chance to receive a bicycle to ride around town.

All participants need to register at The Happiness Cycle website before the day, and can also download the HappiCycle app, which allows users to track progress, challenge friends and earn virtual rewards. The event is being held in Reservoir at the Darebin Community Sports Stadium and if you know someone who would like to take part, send them to www.happinesscycle.com.au.

Older teens with bikes will also be invited to take part in Cycle Confidence courses following the event. To register interest, contact Stephanie Preston, Darebin’s Safe Travel Officer, on stephanie.preston@darebin.vic.gov.au or 8470 8506.

Darebin Cycling Strategy 2013

The Darebin Cycling Strategy 2013 was adopted by Council on 10 December 2012. The new strategy reflects the changing context of cycling as transport and the popularity of cycling for leisure and transport.

The Darebin Cycling Strategy 2013 provides an ambitious yet achievable set of actions for delivery of infrastructure and programs within Darebin to make cycling enjoyable, convenient and safe.

The community provided valuable input on the Draft Darebin Cycling Strategy 2013, this has been collated and analysed for inclusion, and is attached below for review.
