Darebin Homemade Food & Wine Festival 2013

Darebin Homemade Food & Wine Festival is a celebration of food traditions and sustainable food. The Festival will include seminars, workshops, a progressive dinner and more! Homemade red wine, white wine, beer, tomato passata and ajvar can be entered into competition by Thursday 9 May.

Celebrate food traditions and sustainable food at this lively community event. Featuring: Homemade wine & beer tasting and an opportunity to meet our fabulous local homemade wine and beer makers, information stalls, ‘food swap’, seminars and demonstrations including ‘Bee-keeping in the Burbs’ and ‘The Art of Salami', information stalls and great music!

Somali Cooking Demonstration with Faten Mohamed, Sudanese/Ethiopian Daughter

Suqaar is one of most popular East African dishes eaten widely in Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea and Somali. The word suqaar comes from the Arabic word which means “small ones.” The small ones referred to the very small cubes of meat. Faten will show you how to prepare this delicious and healthy dish. The Art of Salami

The Melbourne Salami Festa presents a panel of experts to share their knowledge, experiences and stories alongside a Salami Making demonstration hosted by Home Make It. Together they will discuss and demystify the art of salami making, a true 'nose to tail' philosophy where an animal's value is truly appreciated and nothing goes to waste.
