International Day Against Homophobia (IDAHO)

Recognised in over 60 countries, the International Day Against homophobia and Transphobia (IDAHO) is an annual event celebrated on May 17, the date when the World Health Organisation removed homosexuality from its list of mental disorders in 1990.

IDAHO aims to raise awareness of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) rights violations and stimulate interest in LGBTI rights work.

Darebin City Council recognises IDAHO as a great opportunity to challenge homophobia, biphobia and transphobia and to celebrate diversity in its broadest sense.
