Darebin Council Logo

Australian Made in Darebin

MEDIA RELEASE, 24 July 2012

The Australian Made/Australian Grown campaign will be adapted for a local audience in the coming months as Darebin City Council supports the ‘Australian Made in Darebin’ logo.

This local version of the familiar green triangle of the Australian Made/Australian Grown campaign promotes reinvestment in the local community, and will be displayed by local businesses and manufacturers involved in the campaign.

“Darebin City Council is proud to be involved in this campaign. As part of our commitment to economic development we want to support our local industry,” said Darebin Mayor, Cr Steven Tsitas.

“In the 2012-13 financial year we are focusing on the ways in which Council can add value to the services it provides to local businesses.”

“Residents can contribute to our region’s economic development by becoming more aware of the effect of their spending decisions on the local economy.”

Research shows that 65 per cent of Australian shoppers have a strong preference for buying locally made products, and this campaign makes it very easy for them to identify these.

To use the Australian Made/Australian Grown logo, goods must be registered with the Australian Made/Australian Grown organisation and must meet the criteria set out in Australian Consumer Law and Australian Made/Australian Grown’s own stringent Code of Practice.
