MEDIA RELEASE, 10 August 2012
Darebin City Council is inviting the community to assist in the development of the Council Plan 2013-2017 by having a say on what direction Council should be heading over the next four years.
Community forums will be held on Monday 27 August, Thursday 30 and Friday 31 August 2012 and all are welcome to attend.
“The Council Plan community forums provide residents with an opportunity to have their say on the issues that they think are of the greatest importance to the future of our City,” said Darebin Mayor Cr Steven Tsitas.
“We encourage all in the community to attend the forums,” said Darebin Mayor, “as it is important that Darebin’s Council Plan reflects the diverse needs of our community.
“The Council Plan is developed every four years to outline the promise that Council makes to the community and details the strategies that it will put in place to achieve this promise,” the Mayor said.
The Mayor said the community forums will be the first in a number of Council Plan engagement activities that the community will have an opportunity to participate in over the next six months.
Council will use community input provided during these community forums to inform the draft Council Plan, which Council will then present to the community for feedback following the election later this year.
The Council Plan 2013-2017 will be adopted by Council in June 2013.
