Graffiti negatively impacts our community. It distorts perceptions of local safety and causes damage to the natural environment.

Reporting Graffiti | | Managing graffiti is everyone's responsibility. Graffiti should be reported to the police and to the property owner, who has responsibility for removing the graffiti. To report graffiti to the police, phone crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
Graffiti on Council Property If you are reporting graffiti on Council property - roads, signs, footpaths, parks or public facilities, please contact Customer Service 8470 8888.

| Graffiti Removal | | The City of Darebin offers private property owners, both residential and business, a subsidy to assist in the remove of graffiti on their property. Property owners can receive one of the following to remove graffiti in any 12 month period:
a voucher for a 4 litre tin of paint; a voucher for a graffiti removal kit containing a biodegradable chemical and cleaning equipment; or a voucher for $50 towards the total cost of hiring a graffiti removal contractor
All of these vouchers are worth approximately $50. To apply for a graffiti removal voucher, contact Customer Service on (03) 8470 8888.
Please note that graffiti removal can cause significant damage to the environment. Where possible, use biodegradable chemicals and recycled water. | |
| Offensive Graffiti | | The City of Darebin offers a subsidy of up to $500 to assist private property owners in rapidly removing offensive graffiti from their residential or commercial property. Offensive graffiti is defined as having the potential to insult members or groups in the community. It commonly includes defamatory or degrading remarks about race, religion, sex or personal privacy. Offensive graffiti frequently contains abusive, crude, vulgar or obscene words, phrases or graphics, and negatively impacts perceptions of safety.
