Each year Council receives many requests from community groups and organisations for funding for capital improvements to either a sports pavilion or community centre, these are known as capital works projects.
The cost of requests received by Council is always much greater than can be funded. Council prioritises and evaluates these requests each year when preparing its annual budget to determine what can be funded. Council Officers are required to prepare detailed submissions of capital works requests for prioritisation with the assistance of the club.
The following principles and timelines are used by Council when assessing projects:
What need is being meet?Who will benefit from the project? How will/can it be funded? What are the ongoing implications? i.e. safety, maintenance.Capital works is a separate process to grants funding, and you will need to discuss your intentions with a Council Officer prior to any submission is made to Council.
For more information on capital funding please contact our Sports Development Co-ordinator who assists local sporting clubs with capital works request and visit the Projects page for a complete list of current capital works projects.
