Darebin Business Award for Community Contribution

The Business Award for Community Contribution recognises local businesses that have made noteworthy community contributions during the current year or given outstanding service to the local community over a number of years.  The award will recognise a business that has shown innovation to identify and address a community need. To be eligible businesses must be located in Darebin, and directly improve the life of those who live, work, study or visit the area.  The contribution must be voluntary and/or in excess of the business’ requirements. Nominations are now closed for 2016.

Better Neighbourhood Awards

The Darebin Community Awards recognize and support the contribution that individuals, groups and businesses make to address disadvantage, promote social inclusion and improve safety and wellbeing in the Darebin community.

The 2015 Awards are now closed. Congratulations to Darebin Community Health who received $5000 to deliver their  intergenerational project that facilitates activities and events for local students and older adults in their Planned Activity Group (PAG) that focus on knowledge sharing and strengthening intergenerational relationships. With  the proceeds from the Better Neighbourhoods Award, the children and PAG clients worked on a photography and shared stories project that was showcased at the "Walk in their shoes” photographic exhibition.

Darebin Australia Day Awards recognise the most outstanding local talent in the Darebin community, award winners are exceptional people committed to improving the wellbeing of our community.

Celebrate Australia Day in Darebin.

Our Australia Day begins with an Australian Citizenship Ceremony at 10.30am, or join the celebration from 11.30am and enjoy a free barbecue and children’s entertainment. All are welcome.

Our Australia Day Awards are presented in three categories, so that individuals or groups that have made an outstanding contribution to the Darebin community can be nominated. The award categories are;

  • Citizen of the Year
  • Young Citizen of the Year
  • Community Group of the Year

Nominations for the 2017 Australia Day Awards open on 1 August 2016.
