Artwork in windows of a vacant shop

Working with real estate agents and property owners we transform areas of vacant shops, graffiti and bill posters into creative destinations.

Are there vacant shops in your shopping strip that you think could benefit from being a part of Darebin’s Active Windows project?

As part of the Active Spaces Program, we are currently delivering the Active Windows Project, installing free local artwork onto the external windows of vacant shopfronts across Darebin.

This is designed to attract long term tenants into vacant Darebin shopfronts, reduce tagging on vacant shopfronts, and showcase emerging Darebin artists and their artwork in the public realm.

We will seek permission from the property owner or their representative to temporarily install the artwork on your vacant shopfront window to help bring vibrancy to the shopping area.

Artwork has been selected from the Homestead 2023 A1 Exhibition, images have been professionally photographed and printed onto vinyl. Council will cover the costs of the artwork, window cleaning before installation and artwork removal.

Artworks are A0 or A1 in size and will be installed until June 2024 or earlier if the shop is tenanted.

Please email business@darebin.vic.gov.au with your suggestions and we will follow up.
