All are invited to join in the fun of A Month of Sundays, a series of Sunday afternoon musical concerts in various parks around the municipality. 
 
The events will feature a range of musical styles and are designed to encourage community participation in free social activities.  

A Month of Sundays is part of Darebin City Council’s In Your Backyard program of events. With two Sunday programs already presented, get set for the last three weeks of April with: Koorie Pride Youth Festival, featuring stunning Indigenous music and dance; Music in Sullivan, featuring fabulous African tunes from Asanti Dance Theatre; and Opera at Edwardes Lake,  featuring music from Banda Bellini.

Darebin City Council & Bundoora Homestead Art Centre Presents Jodie J Hill: About Time Tour. Who knew carpet could be this entertaining?
 
Jodie J Hill leads a hilarious tour of Bundoora Homestead Art Centre's current exhibition ‘About Time: Australian Studio Tapestry 1975-2005’. Strap yourselves in craft-nuts, and discover the cultural mecca of Melbourne’s northern suburbs. This fun tour will have you traversing the wild and woolly world of the tapestry scene.

This is a free event but places are limited and bookings are essential. The tours will be held on Thursday 12 April at 2.30pm and Sunday 15 April at 2.30pm.

 

“Hilarious,” “insightful,” “terrifying”— among other words, these may in the future be used to describe The Nose, Melbourne’s new alternative fortnightly newspaper of satire, journalism and literature, launching in April 2012.

The Nose is set to be a shot of sanity in the tradition of magazines like The Chaser, Private Eye, The Onion, Matilda, and The eXile. The Nose welcomes cartoons from all comers, particularly those with no artistic merit or respectability. If you feel like you fit this definition, send an email or ring Geir on 0439 555 525. In 2012 the Northcote Town Hall will again become a participating venue for Northern Exposure, the visual art festival where the street is the gallery.

We are currently seeking expressions of interest for our program. Applicants are being invited to apply for free spaces for exhibitions during the festival.

JAMBUDVIPA Productions in association with Chandrabhanu presents Anu Vats in Odissi Vandana on Sunday 15 April 2012 at 4pm at Darebin Arts and Entertainment Centre.

Odissi is an Indian Classical Dance form from the East of India. Anu has been learning with Dr. Chandrabhanu from the Bharatalaya Dance Academy over 30 years and is giving her first solo Odissi recital accompanied by renowned musicians from India.

"Anu brings to the stage a mature performance experience gained through many years of stage exposure through the magical productions of the acclaimed Bharatam Dance Company. Dance comes naturally to her, and combined with her dedication and knowledge, brings with it a consummate artistry." - Chandrabhanu.
