There are a number of current and proposed park and playground projects around Darebin.
Donath Reserve Upgrades
Construction works to implement a youth precinct, playspace and BBQ area at Donath Reserve (Harmer St, Reservoir) are due to commence in August 2016. These works form part of the implementation of the Donath and Dole Reserves Master Plan (endorsed by Council in 2014).
Bill Lawry oval and Oldis Gardens Master Plan Development
Following the adoption of the Bill Lawry Oval and Oldis Gardens master plan on 5 December 2016, we can begin to plan projects to improve the landscaping, social spaces and connectivity between both sites and the surrounding area.
Friends of Bill Lawry Oval and Oldis Gardens

Edwardes Lake Park Master Plan development
We are creating a new master plan to help guide future improvements at Edwardes Lake Park in Reservoir. We gathered many of your great suggestions and ideas which will now be considered in preparing a draft master plan, scheduled for release in March 2017.

Batman Park Master Plan Implementation
Works have been ongoing at Batman Park (corner of St Georges & Arthurton Rd, Northcote) in line with key actions identified in the Draft Batman Park Landscape Upgrade Plan. As part of these works, a low fence has been installed on the road facing sides of the park, new furniture has been installed, and the BBQ, toilet block and footpath have been upgraded. All existing garden beds have also been replanted. Upcoming works will include refurbishing the existing rock walls.
Robinson/Capp Reserves Master Plan Implementation
Votes are in for the play equipment options at Robinson/Capp Reserves Playspace and we’re pleased to announce Option 1 is the winner, scoring 75% of the votes. These works are being completed as part of the W.H. Robinson and A.H. Capp Reserves Masterplan implementation. Playspace upgrade works have been delayed due to contractor availability and we are working to negotiate a speedy completion. If you would like further information, please contact us.
Woolhouse Reserve Playspace Upgrade
As part of the implementation of our Playspace Strategy, the playspace at Woolhouse Reserve (corner of Woolhouse Street and Beavers Road, Northcote) is scheduled for an upgrade this financial year. Whilst this playspace is located within Croxton School grounds, we have a long standing agreement with the Department of Education to allow public access to the playspace after school hours and on weekends. The upgrade plan has been prepared in close consultation with Croxton School is now available for review. We now need your help to choose your preferred play activities.

Darebin boasts beautiful parklands for its residents and visitors use and enjoyment. To ensure our parklands and reserves remain in great condition, regular maintenance is carried out including litter collection, mowing of lawns and removal of weeds. In addition, regular upgrades and improvements ensure a safe and visually pleasing place to visit. Maintenance of various parklands, conservation bushlands, landscaped areas and sporting grounds includes regular;
- Grass mowing
- Litter removal
- Playground inspection and maintenance as required
Each year Council’s capital works budget provides for upgrades and improvements of existing open space and is guided by our Open Space Strategy
