Preston City Hall

Preston Shire Hall

Community Halls and Rooms - up to 50 people
We have a number of community facilities available for hire including:

  • Donald Street Community Hall
  • Fairfield Community Room
  • Clyde Street Community Hall

These smaller venues are suitable for both meetings and indoor activities such as yoga and gentle exercise. All of these venues and surrounding grounds are both alcohol and smoke free.

Note: Parties are not permitted with the exception of Clyde Street for children aged 5-12 years old only.

Sunday to Thursday: 9.00am – 10.00pm
Friday and Saturday: 9.00am – 11.00pm
**Please note children’s parties must finish no later than 5.00pm.

Reservoir Community and Learning Centre

Meeting Rooms available for hire
Two meeting rooms, 10 seats in each (rooms only available during Library opening hours, Monday to Friday 10am-8pm and Saturday 10am-4pm)
Two function rooms, 45 seats, theatre style

Please note:

  • There are NO private functions permitted in the Function Space
  • All users require public liability insurance cover
  • There is a two hour minimum booking time for the upstairs meeting rooms
  • There are hire costs associated with the use of the audio visual system in the Function spaces

Darebin Intercultural Centre

The Centre has a variety of low-cost rooms and technical equipment for hire for activities that contribute to the Centre’s purpose and vision.

  • Pearl Room – Meeting/function room with 60 persons capacity
  • Jade Room – Meeting/function room with 50 persons capacity
  • Amber Room – Meeting room/hot desk space with 6 persons capacity
  • Opal Room – Meeting room with 10 persons capacity
  • Kitchen – The Kitchen is for heating and serving catered food only

Note:

  • All hirers require Public Liability Insurance Cover.
  • AV equipment is available for hire (during business hours only) by hirers of the Pearl and Jade Room.
  • Room set-up available (during business hours only).
  • NO parties, political or religious activities are permitted.

Arts Centres

Our city is home to a number of wonderful arts centres including a public art gallery at Bundoora Homestead, a 395 seat theatre at Darebin Arts & Entertainment Centre, and the modern performance studios and art-deco significance of the Northcote Town Hall.

Bundoora Homestead Art Centre
Location: 7-27 Snake Gully Drive, Bundoora, VIC 3083
Built in 1899, Bundoora Homestead is a magnificent Queen Anne-style Federation mansion operating as a historic house, art gallery and cafe, registered by Heritage Victoria and certified by the National Trust. The Art Centre is the public art gallery for the City of Darebin hosting contemporary visual arts and craft exhibitions, a public education program including artist talks, workshops and events, a community access gallery, and the biennial Darebin Art Prize.

Northcote Town Hall

Northcote Town Hall is a spectacular historical icon that has recently been renovated to include modern and art-deco interiors.

Rooms are available for meetings, functions, events and performances.

Darebin Arts & Entertainment Centre

Reservoir Community and Learning Centre
A convenient hub offering a wide variety of services, and a safe welcoming space for locals and visitors. The area surrounding the centre has CCTV in operation keeping safety in mind.

Darebin North East Community Hub
The hub provides services for families with children, and art gallery, meeting rooms, and a conference space. The family and children services include: maternal and child health services, breastfeeding support, family support, early years programs and a toy library.

The hub is located in Bundoora in a restored building of historic significance that was formerly part of Larundel Psychiatric Hospital.

Darebin Intercultural Centre

The Centre located in Preston aims to foster respectful and constructive interracial, intercultural and interfaith relations between and amongst people, who live, work or play in Darebin.

The Centre hosts a variety of activities throughout the year, from cultural programs and celebrations to workshops, film days, forums and panel discussion. There are low-cost rooms and technical equipment for hire for activities that meet the Centre’s objectives and contribute to the Centre’s purpose and vision.

Senior Citizens Centres

In Darebin we have six Senior Citizen’s Centres. These centres can be hired by community groups and organisations for activities that are welcoming and inclusive of older people.

Priority will be given to activities that promote active and healthy ageing as outlined in Council's Active and Healthy Ageing Strategy 2011 – 2021. Groups running activities that connect people from different ages (intergenerational activities) are also encouraged.

Our Senior Citizen’s Centres are a place for community members to meet, discuss, organise activities or run workshops. The centres can not be hired for private use. This includes, but is not limited to: 

  • birthday parties
  • weddings and engagements
  • graduation parties
  • christenings, and 
  • profit making enterprises

These Senior Citizen’s Centres can be hired by eligible incorporated and not-for-profit community groups and organisations.
