Get Active in Darebin Program - Autumn 2024
Get Active in Darebin is a free community-based exercise program aimed at increasing the physical activity and wellbeing levels of Darebin residents. Program also targets engaging under-represented groups into physical activity.
Most activities are catered for people of all ages, abilities and fitness levels, and facilitated by qualified instructors and coaches. Many programs include family friendly classes specifically designed for parents and children to enjoy exercise together.
Registration is required for many sessions, whilst other you can just join in on the day. Bring your own water, towels, and a mat (if required) and join in on the fun.
This season the Autumn Get Active in Darebin program is providing free healthy exercise for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. If you identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and want to get involved check out the downloadable poster here.

Volleyball for All
Starts: 15th April – 13th May (5 weeks only)
Mondays: 3pm - 4pm

Volleyball skills, drills and games for all ages and abilities, run by our volleyball loving staff. Equipment provided. (Activities will be modified to best suit participants.)
Social Badminton
Starts: 9th April – 14th May (6 weeks only)

A great way to start your day! Before you head to work, school or any other daily commitments, come, and meet some new friends and have fun playing badminton. Join us for an early morning hit. All equipment is provided (no instructor).
Bootcamp
Starts: 9th April – 14th May (6 weeks only)
Tuesdays: 9am – 10am

A mix of body weight and weighted exercises designed to improve your strength and cardiovascular fitness. Using a variety of equipment from Battle ropes, Suspension trainers and deadballs a 45min session of high intensity work. Meet @ Group Fitness Area

Get into Rugby
Starts: 9th April – 14th May (6 weeks only)

Get into Rugby this Autumn by joining the 6-week Touch Football and Rugby Skills Clinics delivered by Northern Panthers Rugby Union Football Club. These family friendly sessions will be open for all ages and genders and would consist of fundamentals skill training to play and enjoy Touch Football and Ruby Union. Casual Pickleball

Play Pickleball – the world’s fastest growing sport! Start your day with us, and join in a fun, social round of Pickleball on a Wednesday morning before work, school or play. Suitable for all ages and skill levels with all equipment provided. (No instructor).
Cardio Tennis

Cardio Tennis is the energized way to learn and play tennis for people of all ages and abilities. Sessions are run by our qualified coach who will personalize the activities to suit the motivation and ability of everyone, so you feel comfortable to progress at our own pace. (All equipment is provided, and the session is run outdoors.)
Pilates
Starts: 11th April – 16th May (6 weeks only)
Thursdays: 9.30am – 10.30am

Pilates is a form of strength training, but it doesn't look like some of the other strength training exercises you might be familiar with. Pilates focuses more on improving muscle tone than building muscles, resulting in greater stability and endurance. Registration is not required, just drop in and enjoy!
Zumba
Starts: 11th April – 16th May (6 weeks only)
Thursdays: 7pm – 8pm

Zumba is an interval workout. The classes move between high- and low-intensity dance moves designed to get your heart rate up and boost cardio endurance. Registration is not required just join in the fun @ Reservoir Leisure.
Walking Group
Starts: 12th April – 17th May (6 weeks only)
Fridays: 10am – 11am

If you’re looking for an opportunity to meet like-minded people and/or exercise in a safe, low intensity environment join our Walking Group. Held inside Narrandjeri Stadium you are out of the weather and off the road making the group open to all ages and fitness levels. You’ll be accompanied by music and our positive walk leader.
Parkrun

A community event initiated and organised entirely by volunteers where you can walk, jog or run five (5) kilometres. Commences at 8.00am every Saturday morning at CT Barling Reserve in Reservoir.
Social Table Tennis

- Active Seniors offers a range of free online class videos specifically tailored for seniors 50+

Looking to get active outdoors in our parks and build more strength, cardio and stamina? Why not try our outdoor gym equipment at a time that suits you.
Now available to a range of local Darebin parks including:

Walking and running
It's important to try to exercise for at least 30 minutes per day, so why not try walking around local Darebin Parks and streets. Get your free Heart Foundation Personal Walking Plan and get moving today.
Find a walking group near you, visit the Heart Foundation website for more information to search via suburb for your closest groups to join.
For those up for more of a jog or run, why not try parkrun. A free and social community event coordinated by volunteers where you can walk, jog or run 5 kilometers. parkrun is held each Saturday at CT Barling Reserve (Plenty Rd) in Reservoir from 8—9am. Find out more about parkrun and register.
Reduced gym membership
If you’re having financial difficulties, you might be able to get a subsidised gym membership. This will give you access to Reservoir Leisure Centre from 6am—4pm.
