Home Support Services

These services are available to elderly and disabled residents to assist with tasks around the home.

Home Help

Elderly woman receives help around the house

Practical assistance and support for routine household tasks including:

  • Vacuuming and dusting
  • Mopping floors
  • Cleaning bathrooms and toilet
  • Washing and ironing
  • Shopping and bill paying

  • Personal Care

    Assistance in daily personal tasks including:

  • Bathing
  • Grooming
  • Dressing
  • Light meal preparation

  • Respite Care

    Respite Care supports carers of frail or aged people and people with a disability. It enables carers to have a break from their caring duties.

    This service can be provided in or out of your home.

    Assistance is also available to carers of children and young adults who have a disability or significant additional support needs.

    Meals on Wheels

    A nutritious 3-course meal service for the elderly or people with a disability. Meals are delivered on weekdays, however weekend meals are also available. Meals are also served at some Senior Citizen Centes.

    Handyman Service

    Assistance with minor indoor and outdoor repairs and maintenance tasks that do not require a qualified tradesperson. Priority is given to safety and security tasks such as installation of handrails, locks, door repairs, hand-held showers and smoke detectors.

    Community Bus

    A pre-booked door-to-door transport service for aged and disabled people who are unable to access and use other means of transport. This service is available for transport to:

  • Senior Citizen’s Centres
  • Shopping facilities
  • Medical appointments
  • Group outings (outings can be arranged if resources permit)
  • This service is restricted to the Darebin boundaries.
