All Council documents and publications are available in alternative formats upon request. Formats available include large print, electronic (CD or email), audio (Podcast) and hard copy.

Audio Loop

Council Chambers located on High Street features an audio loop that allows people with hearing aids to hear better.

Deaf, Speech or Hearing Impaired Support

If you are deaf, or have a hearing impairment or speech impairment, contact us through the National Relay Service.

Auslan Sign Language Interpreters

Sign Language interpreters are available for deaf residents to allow them to participate in Council meetings, forums, community consultation and general Council events.

The City of Darebin Website has been designed to ensure content is available to all users including those with visual, motor or cognitive disabilities.

Navigation and Content

Simple text and specific headings ensure users can find information promptly.

Content is reviewed and updated regularly to ensure information is current and accurate.

Links

All links are text based to ensure users with screen readers have no difficultly locating them.

Link rollover colour is highly contrasted to ensure it is easily distinguished from standard text that is not clickable.

All link text is specific to the location the user will be sent to ensure easy navigation. (eg instead of ‘click here’ the link may read ‘News and Issues’.

This website links to external websites. These external websites are not owned or endorsed by the City of Darebin and the accessibility of those sites is independent of this website.

Font Size

The fonts used within this website allow the user to access browser based ‘text size’ options to increase/decrease the font size on the page as required.

To do this in Internet Explorer, click ‘View’ in the menu, select ‘Text Size’ and then choose larger or largest.

To do this in Firefox, click ‘View’ in the menu, select ‘Text Size’ and then choose to either increase or decrease the size.

Images

Images are reduced in size and resolution to ensure fast page downloads.

A text description (rollover alternative text) is provided for each image and a descriptive paragraph for detailed maps/graphs to assist users who browse with images turned off.

All documents provided as a PDF are available in hard copy on request. PDF’s have been optimised for quicker download.
