This is a creative writing program for writers and aspiring writers with disability.

The Our Own Voices forum is a free “come and try” event for people with lived experience of disability.

This includes (but isn't limited to) people with sensory or physical issues, hidden issues, ongoing medical conditions, learning difficulties or mental health conditions.

If you self-identify as a person with disability, or as someone who experiences barriers as a result of your condition, then this opportunity is for you.

Developed by people with disability, this event encourages you to share your stories through Own Voices writing and includes readings and inclusive writing activities led by Jax Jacki Brown (they/them) and Jessica Walton (they/them).

Local mentor Gemma Mahadeo (they/them) will introduce the Writing Group program that will continue at Preston Library over the next 8 months.
