Through this series local industry experts provided information and advice on a range of topics. These included business development, leadership, marketing, cashflow, workplace wellbeing and ways to support you and your business.

Sustainability Matters

Sustainability Matters is an annual free event showcasing Darebin businesses. The discussions focus on sharing what local businesses can do to reduce their carbon footprint. Whilst reducing their bills, increasing business productivity, efficiency and being innovative.

When Jobkeeper ends: Employer rights and obligations

In March 2021, 'When Jobkeeper ends: Employer rights and obligations' was presented by Darebin Business with the Victorian Chamber of Commerce. It covered topics like:

  • identifying what flexibilities will end
  • exploring how an employer may make changes to the workforce
  • and an overview of the redundancy process.

Free one–on–one custom business mentoring

We are offering two online free one-on-one custom business mentoring sessions with Leigh Crocker, ION Group specialist. This will focus on business strategy adjustments in times of crisis, recovery roadmap development, and potential growth for your business. These sessions are at no cost to Darebin businesses.

Free Counselling – Employee Assistance Program

Counselling - Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is free to all businesses and employees in Darebin. You can reach out for information and counselling. You can also log in for free to our EAP supplier, Converge International, and view a range of helpful resources.

Darebin Enterprise Centre Ltd (DECL) is a non-profit organisation that can help with the start up and growth of your small business.

Small Business Mentoring Service

Small Business Mentoring Service is an independent non-profit organisation that provides one-on-one advice from an experienced mentor in your field.

Business Victoria

Business Victoria is a comprehensive online resource offering a range of services such as starting or buying a business, finding the right licences, employing and managing people, and more.

National Retailers Association

National Retailers Association is a non-profit organisation that support, inform, protect and represent the interests of retailers and quick service restaurants.

Social Traders

Social Traders is a non-profit organisation that supports and encourages the establishment of social enterprises Australia-wide. Social Enterprises take a number of forms, delivering outcomes as diverse as employment for the disadvantaged, production of important goods and services, fundraising for other charitable activities and community projects.

North Link

NORTH Link is a northern regional partnership of industry, education and government established for the purposes of economic development, regional marketing and promotion of Melbourne’s north. NORTH Link also provides information to prospective business investors in Melbourne’s north.

Inner Northern Group Training

Inner Northern Group Training was started by local government to promote employment through the apprenticeship and traineeship systems.

Inner Northern Local Learning and Employment Network (INLLEN)

The Inner Northern Local Learning and Employment Network (INLLEN) is a non-profit organisation funded by the Victorian Government that aims to improve education, training and employment outcomes for young people aged between ten to nineteen years in the municipalities of Darebin, Moreland and Yarra.

LaTrobe University

LaTrobe University runs entrepreneurship and business courses at their Bundoora location. They offer an accelerator for startups and a range of online and short courses.

Melbourne Polytechnic

Melbourne Polytechnic TAFE has industry-specific courses on entrepreneurship, business management and short courses.
