Work experience

Our work experience program provides meaningful, hands-on learning opportunities for students interested in agriculture and horticulture.

To participate in any of our work experience programs you will need to show evidence of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19.  This will be required at the time of your interview.

Programs are available for secondary, VET, VCAL, TAFE and university levels. Students with innovative ideas and a great sense of initiative are encouraged to apply!

Students will assist with animal care including feeding and cleaning out animal pens; assist guides with education programs and assist with general farm cleaning and grounds maintenance.

Secondary school, VCAL, VET and TAFE (under 18 years)

We offer 8 work experience placements per year to secondary, VET and VCAL students.  Secondary placements run for one week. VCAL placements can run over the course of several weeks and will depend on availability.

To apply for 2022:

If your application is successful you will be contacted by our Education Team Leader to arrange a time for a short interview.

University and TAFE (18+ years old)

Duration of TAFE and university placements depend on the requirements of the course you are enrolled in.

To apply:

  • Apply for your Working With Children Check Card.  Please note, it is now a requirement that all university and TAFE students that are 18+ years old hold a valid Working With Children Check card. This is a free check, for more information please go to the Working With Children Check website. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept work placement students without this card.

If your application is successful you will be contacted by our Education Team Leader to arrange a time for a short interview.

Special Development Schools

We welcome work experience applications from students of special development schools. For students who require a Carer, please ensure the Carer is available to attend the interview, and if successful, subsequent placement dates with the student.

Please apply following the guidelines for Secondary Schools, VET and VCAL placements above.
