When is my recycling collection day?

We collect your household recycling bins every two weeks, alternating with food and green waste bin collections.

There are two collection zones in Darebin - east and west. To find out which zone you live in, download our recycling zone map or find your address on the community map website.

Collection calendars

Now you know which zone you live in, see our 2021 calendars for your recycling collection dates:

Recycling calendars for 2022 are now available to download :

To get a printed calendar, visit a Customer Service Centre or call 03 8470 8888 and ask us to post it to you.

We don't collect bins on Christmas Day, New Year's Day, Good Friday, or Anzac Day public holidays. In these cases, we'll collect your bin the next day and one day later for the rest of the week. Bin collections happen on other public holidays as normal.

Getting ready for collection day

To be ready for collection day, please make sure that your bin:

  • is out before 5am of the collection day
  • weighs no more than 30kg
  • is at least half a metre from other bins
  • is clear of cars or obstructions (where possible)
  • has a closed lid and no rubbish next to, near or on top of it
  • has its bin opening facing towards the road
  • is removed from the nature strip within 24 hours of collection.
