We’re proud to launch our LGBTIQA+ Action Plan, delivering on Council’s commitment to create a safer and more welcoming Darebin for LGBTIQA+ community members.
Endorsed by Council on March 24 2026, the plan has been built directly from the stories, experiences and ideas shared by local LGBTIQA+ communities.
This Plan aims to reduce discrimination, address inequalities and make Darebin a more inclusive place for LGBTIQA+ people. The 4-year Plan focuses on Council services and programs, as well as supporting community-led initiatives and groups.
We heard from almost 300 community members who shared their thoughts and ideas about how Darebin services, programs and facilities could be more accessible for LGBTIQA+ communities.
Darebin previously had a Sexuality, Sex and Gender Diversity Action Plan that expired in 2017. The LGBTIQA+ Action Plan will build on the previous action plan and will continue supporting Council in this area.
