Health and Wellbeing Plan

health and wellbeing

Our Health and Wellbeing Plan goal is to enable our community to be healthy, strong and resilient people, connected to opportunities, and striving for health equity for all.

Our Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan (MPHWP) is integrated with our Council Plan in Our Darebin Plan 2025-29This supports coordinated planning and collaborative delivery of health and wellbeing initiatives for our community.

Victorian local governments have a legal responsibility to protect, promote and improve public health and wellbeing of local communities. Under the Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008, local governments are required to develop a Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan (MPHWP) that outlines actions to enable residents to achieve physical and mental health and wellbeing.

The health and wellbeing needs of the community have been identified through findings from community consultation that was conducted as part of developing Our Darebin Plan 2025-2029.  In addition, we analyzed local data to understand health inequalities within the municipality. This data is presented in the Darebin Health and Wellbeing Profile Report 2025.

The Darebin Health and Wellbeing Profile 2025

The Darebin Health and Wellbeing Profile (the Profile) provides an overview of the health and wellbeing status of the Darebin community and examines the factors that contribute to health and wellbeing outcomes in the municipality. The Profile informed the health and wellbeing priorities of the Council Plan 2025-2029 and helps Council fulfil its legislative requirements under the Victorian Public Health and Wellbeing Act (2008).
