What permits might I need?

Before you start, take over, expand, or make changes to your business, you may need one or more permits and registrations. Darebin’s Business Concierge, delivered through the Better Approvals Program (BAP), is your first step in understanding what approvals may apply.

Our team provides tailored guidance based on your business plans, helping you identify the relevant permits and next steps through a simple initial conversation and follow-up questionnaire.

The BAP process

  1. Get in touch. You can contact the Business Concierge for an initial discussion, or get started by completing the short business questionnaire using the link below. This helps us understand your plans and identify the permits you may need.

  2. Receive tailored advice. Our team will coordinate input from relevant departments and provide you with a summary of the permits required, along with preliminary advice. A pre-application meeting may also be arranged if needed.
  3. Apply with support. Once you’re ready, you can apply for one or more permits with guidance from the Better Approvals team, including Planning, Building, Food, Health and Footpath Trading. We’re here to support you throughout the process.
