On 19 April 2026, Kerrupmara Gunditjmara Boandik man Travis Lovett will begin an 800km walk from Victorian Parliament in Melbourne to Parliament House in Canberra.

Lovett is a Former Yoorrook Justice Commission Deputy Chair and Commissioner, and the Executive Director of the University of Melbourne’s Centre for Truth Telling and Dialogue.

The National Walk for Truth 2026 calls for truth-telling, healing and meaningful change. It builds on the powerful 2025 Walk, which brought together more than 22,000 First Nations community members and allies.

This national journey encourages commitment to a truth-telling process developed in genuine partnership with First Nations Peoples.

As the Walk passes through Darebin on Monday 20 April, you’re invited to take part in a special event at the Aborigines Advancement League in Thornbury, proudly supported by Darebin City Council.

The Walk for Truth is a powerful act of listening, respect and national repair. Attend the League event, join the Walk or visit the Walk for Truth website to learn how you can help advance a national truth-telling process and a more just future.
