Planned Industrial Action: Tuesday 5 May

Published on 04 May 2026

Council building

The Australian Services Union (ASU) has notified Darebin City Council and the other seven councils joined in multi-employer bargaining that they plan to take strike action on Tuesday 5 May coinciding with the State Government Budget announcement.

Some council services may be affected by the ASU’s strike including waste collections, library services and some of our Supported and Connected Living services.

It’s regrettable the Australian Services Union’s industrial action has affected our communities and customers. We will continue to negotiate in good faith with all unions representing our staff.

We will keep you informed as much as possible.
