We’re trialing e-bike and e-scooter hire in Darebin to get community feedback on its role in Darebin’s transport network.
180 e-bikes and 60 e-scooters, owned and operated by Lime, are available for hire in Northcote, Fairfield and Alphington.
Safety and accessibility are at the centre of the trial. We’re using the latest technology to restrict where e-scooters can park, detect and deter footpath riding, ensure helmet use when riders start their journey, and to slow e-scooters to walking pace in busy areas.
All e-scooter and e-bike trips within Darebin must start and end at a designated parking location. These locations were carefully selected to keep our footpaths clear and provide access to key destinations.
During the trial we’ll keep track of your feedback and how community members use the e-scooters and e-bikes. We’ll present this information at the April 2026 Council Meeting.
Note: there was an error at the time of publishing this page - this should state August 2026 Council Meeting, not April 2026 Council Meeting
