Promoting inclusion in sport
The Access for All Guide(PDF, 2MB) provides advice, ideas, contacts and practical ways for sport clubs or community group to become more inclusive of people with lived experience of disability.
Darebin/Banyule Peer Action Group
The Darebin/Banyule Peer Action Group is leading change in people's lives and communities. The group provides peer support and encouragement for people with disability, their families and supporters. The group meets monthly.

Bandmates Victoria
Bandmates is a program that matches volunteers with people over 18 with disability or mental health issues, to go out to live music. Check the Community Music Victoria website to find out more.
International Day of People with Disability
Celebrated each year on 3 December, the International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) aims to increase public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability.
Each year United Nations set the theme and last year it was: ‘Leadership and participation of persons with disabilities toward an inclusive, accessible and sustainable post-COVID-19 world’.
In 2021, we co-designed Light Up Darebin! with the You Am I work experience participants. Over the weekend of 3 to 5 December, two Darebin City Council buildings were lit up in light blue, green, orange and navy blue - the colours and the logo of IDPwD in Australia.
The participants also created the Light Up Darebin booklet(DOCX, 38KB) and its accessible version. This booklet includes participant's art and reflections on the day.
