Our exemplar designs for medium-density development aim to guide townhouse developments in Darebin. We developed the designs in collaboration with Breathe Architecture, Kennedy Nolan and Six Degrees. They envision what design excellence means for townhouse developments.

Building on the Darebin Good Design Guide – Medium Density Development(PDF, 20MB), the exemplar designs outline how to apply guidelines when developing designs. They represent generic designs for common lot sizes in Darebin.

We encourage you to use them as a starting point for your plans, and modify them for local context and requirements. Using the plans doesn't guarantee a planning permit and the design must still respond to relevant controls and regulations.

CAD files are available for each design to expediate the process (please contact us to access these). The designs are released under the creative commons license CC BY 4.0.
