We endorse the Darebin Good Design Guide – Medium Density Development for townhouse developments of two or more dwellings.

As part of the Design Excellence Program we endorsed the Darebin Good Design Guide – Medium Density Development(PDF, 20MB) for townhouse developments of two or more dwellings.

Although this isn't mandatory, it extends on our planning requirements and sets out the design quality we expect.

Who should use this guide?

  • If you're applying for a permit, you should use the guide for design development and pre-application meetings.
  • Our statutory planners should use the guide to assess planning applications.
  • We strongly encourage architects to use the guide while developing their designs.
