How to lodge a Certificate of Compliance
You can lodge your Certificate of Compliance online via our eServices portal. A fee of $21.90 will apply to lodge the certificate.
Please note:
- a Certificate of Final Inspection is not a Certificate of Barrier Compliance
- an Occupancy Permit is not a Certificate of Barrier Compliance
You'll be asked to identify the property as the first step in your application.

How to obtain a Certificate of Compliance?
A certificate of pool and spa barrier compliance certifies that a pool or spa safety barrier complies with the applicable barrier standard. To obtain a certificate of pool and spa barrier compliance you will need to engage a registered building surveyor or building inspector to inspect your swimming pool or spa safety barrier.
Once you receive your Certificate of Compliance you will need to upload the certificate within 30 days of receiving it from your building surveyor or inspector.
When do I have to lodge the Compliance Certificate?
The due date for lodging your certificate of compliance depends on the age and construction date of your pool or spa safety barrier.

| From 1 May 2010 until 31 October 2020 | 1 June 2024 |
| After 1 November 2020 | Within 30 days of the occupancy permit/certificate of final inspection |
Compliance Certificates are only valid for 30 days from the date of issue, so once you have received your compliance certificate, please lodge it with us as soon as possible to avoid another inspection.
You are required to lodge a certificate of compliance every 4 years.
