The results of our 2026 Community Satisfaction Survey are in, providing valuable insights into what we’re doing well and where we can improve.

Conducted annually, the Community Satisfaction Survey asks residents about Council’s performance across a broad range of areas, including 36 Council services and facilities, governance and leadership, customer service, planning and housing, and Council’s overall performance across all areas of responsibility.

The 2026 survey included a representative sample of 1,000 Darebin residents, who were interviewed door-to-door in May and June 2026.

Encouragingly, satisfaction with Council’s overall performance increased this year. Areas where we are performing well included our public art and performing arts programs, community and cultural activities, festivals and events, animal management, regular recycling and our community newsletter Darebin Community News.

Importantly the survey provides insights into issues and areas where we can continue to focus our efforts and improve the experience of our community. Roads and traffic management, public toilets, playgrounds, dumped rubbish, sports ovals and outdoor facilities, and drains and street sweeping have been identified as areas for us to improve.

Thank you to all residents who were randomly selected to take part in this year’s survey. You can view the full 2026 community satisfaction survey results as well as results from previous years on our Community satisfaction survey page.
