Darebin recycling facilities

electronic waste

You can now drop off small amounts of recyclable items at our new recycling stations, conveniently located at our customer service centres in Preston, Northcote and Reservoir

They are currently accepting household quantities of:

  • CD’s
  • DVD’s
  • VHS Tapes
  • Cameras
  • Electronic Accessories
  • Mobile Phones & Ipads (We kindly ask that you hand mobile phones and Ipads to a staff member at the counter)
  • Batteries (Batteries will need to be taped on both sides, please see customer service staff for tape)

X-rays and fluorescent/light globes will not be accepted at this time. We understand this may be disappointing, and we are actively working on a solution to reinstate these services. In the meantime, these items can be taken to the Darebin Resource Recovery Centre.

Recycling stations no longer accept corks and ring pulls. Please leave ring pulls on aluminium cans and place them in your recycling bin. You can also visit a B-cycle drop off location to recycle your batteries.

Australia doesn't have a recycling option for cork, but you can reuse it for craft projects, garden mulch or compost (don't put it in your green waste bin).

Large quantities of recycling items

If you have large quantities of the above items, please visit the Darebin Resource Recovery Centre. Fees may apply.

If you have commercial quantities of the above items, please visit Planet Ark's Business Recycling website for options.
