The Hub @ Northland
At The Hub, young people can:
- Get job support and check out the local jobs board
- Access support services like legal aid, housing and health support
- Use the entry-level music studio
- Play free games including pool, foosball, and latest gaming consoles
- Use the computers, kitchen and chill-out space
- Get involved in programs and meet other like-minded young people
Weekly programs
Tuesday:
- Drop In: 1pm - 5pm
- Craft Your Calm: 4pm-530pm - Explore wellbeing through creativity
- Art House: 3pm-5pm - Discover a new craft/art activity each week or bring along your own projects.
Wednesday:
- Drop In: 1pm-5pm
- Test Kitchen: 345pm - 545pm - Learn to cook tasty, nutritious, budget-friendly meals.
- Poet's Society: 4pm-530pm - Explore self-expression through creative writing
Friday
- Drop In + Game On Fridays: 1pm-5pm - drop in for video games, pool comps, boardgames and snacks.
- Young Parents Group (COMING SOON): social connection for parents aged under 25. Children always welcome. Call The Hub for more info 03 8470 8926 (When prompted choose option 1 for The Hub)
Facilities and equipment
At The Hub, there are range of activities, games, books and equipment on offer for young people who engage with our onsite programs. These include:
- An entry level music studio
- Mac computer
- Basic audio equipment
- Music instruments including guitars, djembe and an upright piano
- Photography equipment (greenscreen and cameras)
- Free wi-fi
- Five desktop computers with internet connection
- DJ mixing desk
- Latest gaming consoles
- Projector and screen
- Pool table
- Foosball table
- Chess set, puzzles, board games and playing cards
- Arcade machine
- A range of books
- Art area
- Espresso machine
- Tea and coffee making facilities
- Basic cooking facilities.
External support services
We have a number of partnering organisations who work out of The Hub, such as employment support services, community health providers and legal services. This means that young people can access more specialised assistance when they need it. Contact The Hub below to find out about our current external support services.
Opening hours
The Hub is open 1pm—5pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.
The Hub runs weekly programs during school terms. These will be promoted onsite at The Hub and via the City of Darebin Youth Services social media pages.
