The City Nature Challenge is back from 25-28 April 2025.

Darebin has joined forces with more than 25 councils and environmental groups across Greater Melbourne to compete in one of the world’s biggest community science events, the City Nature Challenge. And we’d like you to join us!

The City Nature Challenge runs from 25 to 28 April 2025. It’s a four-day global bioblitz in which cities from all over the world compete to see who can gather the most nature observations using the iNaturalist App.

We’d like you to join us in observing and recording information about our local flora, fauna and fungi. Joining in is easy, and it’s a fantastic chance to explore and learn more about the amazing lands and waters of Wurundjeri Woi wurrung country and show them to the world.
