Draft Budget 2025-26 and Associated Matters - Community Exhibition

Council at its Special Meeting on the 12th May 2025 resolved to:

Place on community exhibition the draft 2025-26 Budget (incorporating the 4-year Budget), draft 10-year Financial Plan 2026-2035, draft 10-year Asset Plan 2026-2035, draft 2025-26 to 2028-29 Revenue and Rating Plan and draft Our Darebin Plan 2025-26 to 2028-29.

Give notice in accordance with section 162 of the Local Government Act 1989 of its intention to declare, at a Council meeting to be held at 6.00pm on Monday 30 June 2025:

  • A service rate for Public Waste Services in the 2025-26 year levied in accordance with the criteria in the Revenue and Rating Plan.
  • A service charge for Kerbside Collection Services in the 2025-26 year in accordance with the criteria in the Revenue and Rating Plan.

Give notice in accordance with section 169 of the Local Government Act 1989 of its intention to grant, at a Council meeting to be held at 6.00pm on Monday 30 June 2025:

  • A concession for residential properties with a CIV value at $500,000 or less by the Valuer General that equates to 100% of the public waste rate. Automatically applied to principal place of residence for ratepayers.
  • A concession for residential properties with a CIV value at $500,000 or less by the Valuer General that caps the kerbside waste collection service fee to a maximum amount of $50 for residential properties.  Automatically applied to principal place of residence for ratepayers.
  • A Council Pensioner Concession of $200 for eligible pensioners for the Kerbside Waste Collection Service Charge. Automatically applied to principal place of residence for ratepayers.
  • A Council Pensioner Rebate of $200 for eligible pensioners who are not eligible for the Pensioner Concession for the Kerbside Waste Collection Service Charge, for the principal place of residence.
  • A rebate of 100% for general rates for all properties owned or managed by Aboriginal Housing Victoria as a ‘registered agency’, relating to the provision of affordable housing.
