IC Nights: April - An Ode to Olives

Next date: Wednesday, 15 April 2026 | 06:00 PM to 08:00 PM

Join us for An Ode to Olives — a gentle celebration of the olive in all its forms: fruit, tree, leaf, oil, and medicine

An ancient companion across cultures and geographies, the olive has long been a symbol of nourishment, resilience, ritual, and care.

Gather with us for tea by local teahouse, Beit e'Shai, seasonal snacks, music, and open conversation as we reflect on how different cultures honour the olive — in kitchens and ceremonies, healing practices and everyday life. From harvest traditions to herbal remedies, shared meals to quiet rituals, we’ll explore the many ways this humble plant connects land, memory, and community.

This is a relaxed, welcoming space to listen, share stories, and sit together around a plant that has sustained people for generations.

A community event open to all — come as you are, bring your curiosity, and stay for the conversation in our Ganbu guljin ganbu wilam lounge.

Come alone or bring a friend, we look forward to seeing you there!

About the Facilitator

Rasha Tayeh is a Palestinian transdisciplinary artist, writer, curator, researcher, herbalist, and the founding director of Beit e’Shai Teahouse. Her practice is land-based, centering on storytelling and the relationships between people, community, and ecology. With over twenty years of experience as an exhibiting artist in Australia and abroad, and a curator since 2017, Rasha has curated and hosted a wide range of exhibitions, workshops, community events, live gigs, listening sessions, tea ceremonies, and poetry nights through her pop-up teahouse since its establishment in 2017.

Her work also spans herbalism, nutrition, community development, and academic research and teaching. This breadth of experience informs her approach as a facilitator - one rooted in collaboration, care, and the creation of spaces that nurture connection, learning, and transformation.
