Our Community Grants program supports projects that make Darebin a better, healthier, sustainable and more inclusive place.

Are you a not for profit community group or organisation who wants to help make a better Darebin? It’s time to apply for our annual community grants to support your next initiative.

What kind of grants are available? 

  • Small grants
  • Medium grants
  • Youth project grants
  • Venue hire support grants

Grant application dates

Darebin Community Grants typically open on 1 April each year, but the opening date will be different in 2026. At the March Council meeting, Council endorsed aligning the grants with the annual budget process, to better respond to the Strategic objectives defined in Our Darebin Plan 2025–2029. This will be determined at the May Council meeting, and the revised opening date determined after this meeting.

Previous grant recipients

In 2025 we received 176 applications across the six main grant streams totalling $945,542.83 (representing almost twice the available budget). After a highly competitive assessment process, a total of 119 successful applicants have been recommended for funding.
