Grants are available to local community organisations for youth-led projects and initiatives that address key issues facing young people in Darebin.
Projects that address local wellbeing and equity issues, climate emergency, that provide leadership opportunities and increase learning and skill development in young people are encouraged. Submissions must provide evidence of community need and a clear benefit young people.
Priority will be given to projects that address issues faced by diverse young people and demonstrate well established youth-led practices that place young people at the centre of all design and implementation.
Darebin Community Grants typically open on 1 April each year, but the opening date will be different in 2026. At the March Council meeting, Council endorsed aligning the grants with the annual budget process, to better respond to the Strategic objectives defined in Our Darebin Plan 2025–2029. This will be determined at the May Council meeting, and the revised opening date determined after this meeting.
