The Freedom of Information Act 1982 gives you the right to request access to government-held information about you or about policies and decisions.

Freedom of Information (FOI)

If there is no law that requires us to make a document available to the public – or available for public inspection – then you may be able to access the document(s) under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (the FOI Act).

The FOI Act gives every person a right to access our documents, except for exempt documents.

Public Interest Disclosure Act 2012

Public officials who suspect wrongdoing within the public sector can raise their concerns under the Public Interest Disclosure Act 2013 (PID Act), formerly Protected Disclosure Act.
