Learn more about how Council-led initiatives and partnerships have activated local spaces, supported businesses, and strengthened Darebin’s public places.
Darebin City Council, in partnership with the Victorian State Government and the Reservoir Revitalisation Board implemented the Reservoir Revitalisation Program. This program focused on the sustainable renewal and growth of Reservoir, building a strong and resilient local economy, improving the main street precinct, increasing community connection and improving perceptions of safety.

The Rezza Rocks project delivered events, activations and activities across Edwardes Street and Broadway in Reservoir. The project included:
The Ramp Up Reservoir project was a rebranding program aimed at increasing awareness of Reservoir’s identity and improving wayfinding throughout the suburb. The project installed wayfinding signs, flag poles, bin wraps and free Reservoir branded tote bags. It also supported the Wangim Cup project to work with seven Reservoir cafes to encourage the use of Reservoir branded reusable cups, thereby reducing approximately 40,000 single-use cups annually, per café.
The Rezza Splash project invited businesses located in Reservoir to apply for a small grant to uplift their shopfronts. After a competitive selection process, 38 businesses received a combined total of over $150,000 that was spent towards shopfront lighting, façade repairs, painting and new signs.
To encourage social collaboration and wellbeing, Rezza Collab commissioned a limited edition Rezza Recipes Book. The book is a collection of stories and delicious recipes sourced from Reservoir locals and businesses. Curated by Reservoir local and MasterChef's Elise Pulbrook and designed by Backpack Creative with illustrations by Carly Altree-Williams.
All proceeds from the book were donated to local community organisations and charities.
The High On Broadway project revitalised the corner of Broadway and High Street in Reservoir with a new public seating area, footpath resurfacing and tree planting. This created a sense of arrival to the Broadway shops. This project was completed in collaboration with Council’s City Design team.
