Statement regarding planning proposal at 323 High Street Northcote

Published on 09 July 2025

Stack of papers

The application for 323 High Street was received by Darebin on 2 July 2025 and was advertised until 2 October.

The application was advertised via the placement of two (2) advertising signs on the subject site and letters were also sent to owners/occupiers of properties within 150 metres of the subject site.

Council officers will now continue with their assessment of the application, including consideration of all objections received. A report will be prepared with a recommendation provided by the assigned officer.

While this advertising period has concluded, objections can still be lodged until a decision is made. This decision is still some weeks away, but Council aims to make a determination this calendar year.

People who may be affected by the granting of the permit may object or make other submissions to Council. Existing comments already received to date will be lodged as objections where the required information has been provided.

An objection must:

•            be sent to the Responsible Authority in writing,

              •            include the reasons for the objection, and

              •            state how the objector would be affected.

We understand there is a community petition circulating regarding the application, but we haven’t received the petition at Council as yet. The petition would be something for Council to consider in due process in line with our governance rules.
