Transgender Awareness Week is 13—19 November and Transgender Day of Remembrance is Monday 20 November.

By raising the transgender flag, we are honouring the significant contributions made by transgender, gender diverse and gender non-binary people daily in the Darebin community. We are making a clear and visible commitment to the safety, inclusion and well-being of transgender people and their families.

Darebin’s commitments in its Towards Equality Framework are to a city which is fair, equitable and safe for everyone. LGBTIQA+ people are one of the groups identified as being most at risk of discrimination.

The Council Plan 2021—2025(PDF, 6MB) includes actions to become more LGBTQA+-inclusive in our Council services, programs and facilities through, working towards Rainbow Tick Accreditation (actions 1—14) and developing a new LGBTIQA+ Action Plan (actions 1—19).  Both these are due in mid-2024.
